Thoughts While Watching The Tide

Teresa-Wright-Meyer-Thoughts-Tide-2.jpg

Stones bright as gems

licked by inrushing tide,

each as full of promise

as an idea before sun and air

reveal its dull, ordinary skin,

surface pitted and scarred,

counterfeit vibrancy

simulated by the sea and

lost once beached,

now commingled with the

flotsam of the common,

eroding world.
