Schoolcrush Brand Update
Schoolcrush wanted a more stylish, gender-neutral brand update to appeal to its mostly high school audience. My solution was an updated logo and color palette, as well as a creative strategy to highlight Schoolcrush’s services: easy, no-overhead fundraising websites to help schools sell on-trend, student-approved spirit wear. I also directed a photo shoot and created a set of illustrations to fill out their marketing content library, re-skinned their e-commerce website, wrote copy, designed marketing collateral and trade show display graphics.
Schoolcrush visual identity, 2014. I riffed on the original logo’s hand-lettered tagline (by illustrator Ryan Alexander Tanner), hand-drawing lowercase letters based on the Eurostile typeface and outlining a drop shadow for dimension. The letters got a rough marker fill, evoking classic school notebook margin doodles and hand-drawn band logos. An upward slant signaled optimism and added a dynamic feel.
